"Waters Of Babylon"

Scene from A&E's Mad Men episode.

"Psalm 137 is one of the best known of the Biblical psalms. Its opening lines, 'By the rivers of Babylon...' (Septuagint: 'By the waters of Babylon...') have been set to music on several occasions...by many composers. The first verse was also used for Don Mclean's song 'Babylon'." Mclean's version is played in the above video.

Abe Vigoda followed by that Hamm guy rom MAD MEN? This has the makings of a bizarre blog, but I thought the post was great. I'm glad I can see YouTubes or Metacafes right away now.

Wellllll, I didn't think that Abe would fit into the Lost or Art blogs, so since I was starting up a new blog for "everything I'm thinking and learning about that doesn't fit onto those blogs", I'd stick him here too. At least I posted him first! :-)

Yes, I'm glad that you can watch all the vids now too! :-D

I just listened to th song again, this time watching the scenes from MM. The hard thing about writing is wanting to use a song, like say THREE DOG NIGHT's "Family Of Man," the same way Babylon was played here. But in a book or story, the song really can only go with one person's scene or POV. My favorite "ending" songs were on HOMICIDE.

Wow, that's a good point. You have to make videos of your books! That's your craft's next evolution. :-D

By the way, how DO you find a clip from, well, anyhthing, and post it on blogger? I know how to post a link, but I wouldn't know what to do with a YouTube clip. I do have one of my stories as a podcast someone read to the masses three years ago...

BTW, does that look like Don McLean playing the zither (or something like that) behind the front singer to you? That would be neat if TPTB of MM put him into the show, since they're singing his version. Those guys tend to do things like that in the series (like casting Robert Morse who starred in "How To Succeed..."), but I haven't found any mention of that on the blogs yet.

To be honest, I wouldn't know what McLean looks like these days. Could be, though.

Wow, crossed posts! :-)

Well, with the new Real Player (which I hate, because most of the time it shuts down in an error when I open it up) it's set up to automatically ask you if you want to download any video that you are looking at. When you click on that, it saves it to your computer, wherever videos go. I had to do a search to find my first one.

Then when you are creating a new post, on the top of the blog post in the menu, there's the icon for attaching a vid, next to the icon for attaching an image. Try it some time and let me know if it works. There must be other way to do it too, maybe.

Is that podcast of your story still online somewhere?

Thanks for asking about my health. I actually think that some side-effects might be improving in verrrry small increments. I keep exercising and doing other stuff to no obvious gain, and various levels of pain, but if I compare myself to when I first got to TN three years ago, I can see a couple of improvements. I'll take it, and thank the Lord. :-)
